Add a Hero

Thank you for deciding to help update our records. By doing so, you are showing your respect for those who have helped to protect the freedom of our country. Before you continue please read the following notes;

Are they already listed in our database?
  If they are, please enter their reference number in order to help us avoid any duplication and possible confusion.
Do they qualify as a Hero of Hull?
  If they were born in, lived a substantial part of their life in, or served and died in Hull, Haltemprice or Holderness; then the answer is yes; they are Hero of Hull.
Where they really a hero?

As far as we are concerned, anyone who fought for our country was a hero. To get on that boat, or in that aeroplane, and head off to war takes a real hero - whether they wanted to fight or not - wether they stayed and fought or eventually succumbed to the horrors of war and simply ran away.

If they served at home in the Civil Defence, the Home Guard, as a Fire Watcher, Auxiliary Fireman, Fist Aider, Rescue Worker, WI or Salvation Army Tea Lady or served in the Land Army; then they too were heroes. However they served, we want to honour their name and their memory. If in any doubt at all, add them anyway. We would rather include them than hiss them from our records.
