Welcome to the Heroes of Hull
VERY IMORTANT
We are still getting dozens of letters and help requests by mail that do not include a stamped, self-addressed, return envelope or a donation. We are extremely sorry but we are simply unable to reply unless you provide the means for us to do so. Funding for all of the Yorkshire Heroes sites comes out of our own pockets - not the council, government, H.M. Forces or anywhere else for that matter.
Picture Box
Since moving into Jubilee Central we are able to photograph and scan your mementoes, pictures and documents while you wait. We want to share the memory of wartime Hull and its people with future generations of our glorious city. We are very keen to record pictures of those who served, in or out of uniform, and your wartime family photos.
The Hull People's Memorial
Please visit our Exhibitions Centre a 22 Whitefriargate, Kingston upon Hull (opposite Card Factory). With a large collection of weapons, munitions, original images and displays, we recommend you bring the whole family and a camera.
School Visits
Teachers, we will be happy to talk to your class, either in Jubilee Central or in your own school. For further information please call in at Jubilee Central, telephone 07856 178885 or email to: [email protected]
Hull Remembers
Please visit our 'Hull Remembers' web site for the latest news on the People's Memorial and to discover how you can participate in our projects.
Blitz Tales
Can you remember the bombing of Hull? Did you play in the 'bombed buildings' after the war? We would love to hear your stories so that we can bring them all together and preserve the memory for future generations to discover just what it was really like being a child of the 1940s and 1950s.
Heroes Who Survived
In the past we have concentrated on researching the fallen heroes of Hull, but now we are expanding this project. We are now asking for your help to record Hull (and district) folk who survived active service in the armed or civilian forces who have served in any armed conflict right up to the modern day. or were injured in the bombings of WW1 or WW2. Discover how to include your heroes on our new Heroes Who Survived pages.
The Heroes of Hull is totally reliant of voluntary donations to keep these web sites running. Please enjoy your visit, share your thoughts and
drop us a line whenever you discover the name of a hero that we have missed. We will be only too pleased to add them to our pages.
